His ministerial education includes attendance Washington Bible College, Lancaster Bible College as well as years of self-directed study of the word of God.

Bishop Patterson is an eager and dedicated student of the word of God – one of his greatest passions is training others to delve deeply into the meanings and context of the scriptures.

Bishop Patterson often share his salvation story: How in 1975 he was preparing for a New Year’s Eve party when his mother invited him to church. He misheard what was being offered and agreed, then went, not wanting to disappoint his mother. His intent was to go to church and still make the party afterward (but GOD had other plans). He entered Friendship Bibleway Church as the choir was singing and the young people were rejoicing and praising God. The New Year’s message that came forth was “Choose Ye This Day Whom You Will Serve.” That night Bishop Patterson chose to make the Lord Jesus Christ his personal savior.

On January 2, 1977 he was ordained to the ministry by Friendship’s pastor, Bishop Zenobie Davis. His ordination sermon was “Whose Servant Are You?” taken from Matthew 4:8-10.

He answered the call to the pastorate in 1981 and established the Holy Mystery Mountain Church in the basement of the home of the late mother Kathleen Stroman. The name was changed from Holy Mystery Mountain Church to the Holy Mountain of God Ministry in 2000 because, Bishop Patterson said, “the mystery has been revealed.” During its lifetime the ministry has occupied other locations in Washington, DC. Currently, Holy Mountain of God is located at 125 Kennedy Street, NW and house several ministries.

Bishop Patterson is married to Evangelist Carmen Patterson; they are the parents of six loving children; Victor Jr., David, Victoria, Danielle, Candace and Willie. He also has nine grandchildren. He is a wonderful pastor, teacher and friend to many.

With a true heart for God’s people Bishop Patterson continually reaches out and touches lives. He has truly answered his topic in 1977, “Whose Servant Are You.” With certainty, he is truly one of God’s servants.
