Thomas Porter (AKA "Elder Bernie") has been a member of HMOG since 1988 and was ordained an Elder on _. He serves as Deacon Board Administrator, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, as well as a praise team leader, vocalist and musician - he plays the saxophone, clarinet, guitar and some piano. He also leads the Men's Prayer & Fellowship Call on Tuesday nights. He takes special interest and responsibility in managing the church sound and media system.

Eld. Porter has been married to Min. Patrice Porter since November 1975. They are the parents of Min. James Porter and Bro. Matthew Porter of HMOG, and Bro. Ozias Porter who is a minister-in-training at Faith International Church in Capitol Heights, MD.
