The Holy Mountain of God Church was founded in 1981 at the home of the late Kathleen Stroman in Washington, DC. There were very few members in the beginning but Pastor Patterson preached and taught the word of God as if he had a church of hundreds. As the membership began to grow, the ministry moved to a building on Georgia Avenue. Membership continued to grow over the years and in 2000 the name was changed from Holy Mystery Mountain Church to the Holy Mountain of God Ministry.
The ministry has occupied several buildings in the Washington, DC area. In June 2003, Holy Mountain of God Ministry relocated into its current location at 125 Kennedy Street, NW, Washington, DC. The Lord has truly blessed the church with several ministries such as Dance, Usher Board, Women, Men, Youth, Marriage, various choirs and many more.
The church has been established now for over thirty-nine years; it has not always been easy, but the Lord always blesses and opens doors for this Ministry. Our pastor always makes time for his sheep to listen and be concerned about what they are going through. He is constantly praying for them and takes out time to call them or go and see about them. The pastor even keeps in touch with former members just to see how they are doing. The Mountain is proud to a place where present and former members will always be family.
As a ministry we are often reminded , this is not the Pastor’s church, it is our church. The only way to be a strong ministry is to have strong and unconditional love for one another. HMOG is a place where love for one another is not only demonstrated in word, but also in deed.
We believe it's important that all believers receive the life changing word of God, through preaching, teaching and consistant study. The Bible instructs us to study to show ourselves approved unto God a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
“For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?”
To creatively minister the love, mercy, and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and so to win the world to Him "until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:13 (NIV).
